My Girly Office

"She's the places that
she has a desire to visit.
She's the pieces of quotes
that are splattered in ink
in her favourite books...
She's full of dreams,
and I hope they one day come true."
           ~Alexa Evangelista

This is a project that I have been working on for almost three months and I am excited to share it with you! I had to make some changes to my room in order to incorporate my office space this past September and was eager to make sure that it didn't detract from the decor. My room has undergone some changes and evolved from predominantly antique original wood stained pieces to all soft cream furniture and fabrics (More pictures soon!). I knew that I wanted a large-ish pin board to go above my desk and I started the hunt for a beautiful frame right away. I looked in every local antique store and found nothing. Then on one saturday outing to a little town about 45 minutes outside of the city I found this stunning pinkish mauve beauty propped up against an antique door and knew straight away that it was the one! It has taken me a little while collecting pictures and baubles but I am very happy with how it turned out! I have filled it with artwork, quotes, miniature ormolu frames, ribbon work and trims, pearls and vintage jewelry, ribbon roses and other sweet little treasures. I spend a lot of time on the computer and it is nice to have something lovely to look at! I've also decorated the desk with a little Royal Doulton bowl, pretty notebooks, and a custom made mouse pad filled with roses. You can find the beautiful shabby white picture frame with the pink roses in my Etsy Shop. (Photos of more new treasures in the shop at the end of this post!)

Glimmers of Christmas

"The autumn sun, in wonder,
Is gayly peering through
This silver-tissued network
Across the frosty blue."
     ~Evaleen Stein, November Morning

I am beginning to feel the first glimmers of Christmas excitement. I know that it will descend suddenly with the month of November petering out and December suddenly bursting through the door with all of its festivities! I like to enjoy it as early and as long as I possibly can. I love seeing Christmas displays appearing in the shops. This week a favourite shop of mine (which is sadly closing in the New Year) was filled to the brim with Christmas beauty. I snapped a few quick pictures to share with you. If you are not yet in the mood to start thinking about decorating these displays will definitely inspire you!

Antique China Cabinet

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows."
             ~Clyde Watson

I hope everyone is staying warm! It feels like winter has arrived here - the snow is falling thick and fast. My Mum and I were out yesterday and remarked on what a nice, mild Autumn we have had and then overnight it was transformed! I think we jinxed it. At any rate the snow does help you to begin to get in the mood for Christmas. I'm sure I will start decorating in the next couple weeks. I like to wait until after Remembrance Day before I start (American Thanksgiving is much to late for me although I know a lot of people who like to wait until then:). In the mean time there is a new addition in my house that is very pretty! - A little antique cabinet that has been re-invented. I love the gold details on the glass and the stencilling in the interior. Its round shape is so beautiful! I hope you like the pictures!
I also recently completed a large order of Gillyflowers for a lovely customer of mine and when they were all finished I took a few pictures of them lying all together.

I have also added a few Christmas-y treasures to the Etsy Shop including two beautiful stockings! Be sure to have a look!
